strangely-pleasant: Don Lothario or Daniel Pleasant?
This one is easy.
Although both of them are sleazy a-holes, Don has a slight edge because he was at least sensible enough to not marry Cassandra and doom her to a failed marriage and deeper heartache (let’s be real, he was dating three ladies at the same time and she’s a Family sim).
I read that Don actually marries Cassie if you have Nightlife installed. Nope, I played the Goth lot while I was testing my current setup and he left her at the altar.
And while I am the topic of Don (I said I wanted to head-canon this morning, didn’t I), he’s way more interesting than Daniel because he actually is a Sims 2 character in a Sims 3 world! Not to mention the whole Bella Goth situation in which he’s involved.
I believe that either Cassie or Mortimer sent Don to another dimension after they discovered that he was related to Bella’s abduction. What the heck was Bella doing there that night? Was she cheating on Mortimer? Was she trying to convince Don to leave her daughter alone?
I think that Bella’s disappearance in his condo was a coincidence and that Don wasn’t really planning to get rid of her with the help of the Caliente sisters.
Now, Mortimer is an inventor, right? So he probably created a machine that could send someone to another plane of existence and that’s exactly what he (or Cassie) did.
I actually wanted to make a story out of this theory. In it, a young Beau ends up in Sunset Valley after he and his older brother Dustin break into Don’s abandoned condo and find the machine, which acts out.
Don takes him in and raises him as his sort of little brother. During the story, Beau befriends young Mortimer, who’s an aspiring artist, and tries to convince him to become a scientist like his Sims 2 self.
In the end, Beau himself ends up creating the machine as a teenager (he’s programmed as a knowledge sim, after all) and returns home.
Don stays in Sunset Valley after he falls in love with Agnes. They never marry, but enjoy being together.
This was my rough plan but storytelling in the Sims 3 is so annoying because you can’t change the time and everything is always moving around.
And this was my tl;dr answer. Sorry about that!
