justsimaround asked: I'm sending this to you because, I really felt like I wanted to say it. It's so sad to hear you retired, you have been such an inspiration for this whole community, and even if I never talked with you before, I admit I have stalked your blogs for a long time (I'm rather new to the community so, yeah) You'll be missed, but I, as well as the rest of the community, hope we'll keep seeing you from time to time. Have fun in RL, they say it's fun out there too, and I hope you get the best of life.
I’ve just logged in for the first time in a few weeks (I wanted to check out what’s new in Simblr-land) and found your message.
Hope you are having fun in the community. Despite the petty drama that erupts sometimes, it is a great fandom full of creativity :). And I really appreciate your message. It cheered me up!
Livejournal is mostly dead now (it feels like everyone is now living in Tumblrs), so here’s a small update from me: Things are still going OK IRL and I’ve just gotten a huge opportunity career wise that will really provide me with tons of benefits and, most importantly, finally work specifically in what I love the most: School inclusion for students with special needs. Those who knew me back when I started Simming in 2007 might remember I worked as an inclusion assistant for six years and those were the most fullfilling years so far.
I really, really hope this works out!
Other than that, still single (but currently loving it), still having constant back-aches from working with really young children, still have my nails covered with glitter and glue (same reason) and I’ll have to wear a ridiculous costume for Children’s Day.
As for the Sims, I launched University the other day and it is quite cool in my book. I sent Cosmo (I succeeded in saving him as an alien, yay!) to Sims University and he’s currently being my guinea pig as he goes through tech career. He wants to become a forensic scientist, after all.
I haven’t taken many pics at all, but here he is doing some independent study because he’s a nerd at heart (like me, I guess). I might take out Story Progression, though, it is making the game lag.
I might also skip the Island Paradise EP and wait for the Time Traveling one. That has REALLY caught my attention.
Anyway, that’s my update. Hope you’re all just fine and healthy!
skeleton--song asked: Hi Simgaroop! I don't necessarily expect a reply to this but if you read it, I just wanted to wish you the best in everything you do in life. You're an amazing part of the community and I know you'll be greatly missed. Stay well and happy!
Thank you so much for your message! I wish you the same as well. Hopefully this year is treating you well! :)
I will still kind of be around, because although I don’t want (or can’t in the case of the Sims 2) play at the moment, I still like to look at pictures. I just won’t participate anymore.
Between my laptop issues, a heavy work-load and lack of interest in the Sims 3 (it is fun to play alone, but not for storytelling or content making. I tried it and it didn’t work for me) I kind of faded away. However, I didn’t want to just disappear without notice, so that’s why I “officially retired”.
(This explanation seems so silly written out, but such is the nature of online presence and interactions, right?)
If I ever get a chance to run the Sims 2 again (why is it incompatible with Intel 4000 HD?! It’s a newer chip that can actually run the Sims 3!!), I will gladly try to at least make custom content again :).
(Seriously, is there a tutorial to make a 2012 laptop run an old game. I’ve searched to no avail!)
Well, take care!
Thanks for the good times, guys.
It’s been a fun ride these five and a half years. When I joined the community, I was a freshly graduated girl working on her first job. You were with me when I applied for a scholrship in the U.S., when I won it, and during my adventures in a foreign country.
I had a lot of fun sharing my pictures, my quirky fandom-ish episodes, my silly story and my attempts at figuring out Photoshop (and you have no idea how much my experience doing Bodyshop stuff is helping when I design materials for my students/clients).
However, the interest in the Sims is long gone, to be honest. This has been coming for months, actually. So, it is time I sign out for good.
I’m going to miss you all! Have a great time, wherever you are!
(And enjoy the University EP tomorrow too!)
P.S. Everything I’ve done and created will stay online, of course. Hopefully, Mediafire won’t play another prank on us.
Anonymous asked: Where can I download the sims 3 pleasntview sims from
I lost the hood with all those sims :(
Maybe I will try to re-do them during my Spring Break. Nowadays I’m too tired for that. I’m sorry, Anon.
Anonymous asked: Hiya there, I was looking at your picture of the Goth family for your 'Maxis-Messy-Who-Cares-About-Continuity Neighborhood' and I wondering if I could ask for a WCIF on the outfits the 3 have on? Thanks in advance :)
Hi there Anon!
I guess you mean this picture, right? (I had completely forgotten I had posted this. It’s been a year already!)
Let’s see what I remember…
Mortimer’s outfit is from Ja-viera HERE (It’s a top and a bottom, not a complete outfit)
Gunther’s is an edit of a Store outfit (I guess the boots are different?) but I can’t recall who made it anymore.
I have no idea about Cornelia’s dress. I’m sorry :(
I hope this helps. I have been out of the loop with the Sims 2 community for so long that I’ve forgotten a lot of places.
I’ve been so absent lately because I arrive home so exhausted from my jobs that I barely browse the Sims sites/tumblrs anymore. I haven’t loaded the Sims 3 in months. And I’m afraid this will continue for a while more. Take care until then!
Anonymous asked: Last question. I guess you named some of the hairs like you want -like one of the peggy hairs called cinderella- but it's not in mediafire folders or not with that name, i'm not sure. Is there any way to figure aout?
I’ve just checked the Peggy folder and that hair is there.
I used to randomly name my files after songs or silly themes in the past (now I am aware that’s not a good idea at all because it makes it way more difficult to find the mesh again).
However, ALL my posts at Simlish Creations have a tag with the mesh creator. And I uploaded my files at their corresponding folder with the same name as the title in the post.
Anonymous asked: Do you know why I -we- cant download textures on esnips? Most of the old ones can not be downloaded now.
Esnips is an awful, awful site that now demands that you download a suspicious download manager in order to get the files. It wasn’t like that five years ago, otherwise I’d had never uploaded my old stuff there.
While I need to update the links at Simlish Creations, all my stuff is currently uploaded at Mediafire.
If you read my Introduction post (aka the top one), you will find a list of all my Mediafire folders sorted by mesh creator. Just visit the folder and download from there.
If you are not sure about the mesh creator, all my entries at Simlish creations are properly tagged. So, you just need to check them :)
UPDATE: Apparently if you remove a PT default, but stick a different one in, then its ok and wont cause corruption? But if you pull out a PT default and go back to maxis youll have problems? At least thats what Im gathering from her reply to me. Here is the thread for those interested.
Multi PT Mods usually include 5 files/packages: The main “mod” and four alien sims (which are linked to the main mod).
You can safely remove the main mod and replace it with a new one. However, you can’t remove the sims themselves or any custom content (specially genetics like skins and eyes) required by the main mod. This is the reason why I prefer to stick with PT Mods that use base game hair and default skins and eyes.
As long as the sims remain in your download folder, you can switch your PT mods safely (although you will end up with a bunch of alien sims in your sim bin in Create a Family :D). Removing the alien sims works like deleting a sim from the hood bin. It tends to corrupt the hood because without the sim, your alien spawn will have a broken family tree.
Hope this helps!
I’ve got the Super Secret Santa thing, but I’ve got more than just the stairs recolors and the windows/doors. Do you want me to upload everything I’ve got in the file or…?
I can’t remember if I ever uploaded everything I made for my Super Secret Santa (it’s been years and I don’t even think my Santee ever got the present, she never replied).
I recall uploading the build mode part of the present, consisting of the stair recolors, some fixed meshes that someone at GOS made for me to make them repositoried and the doors/windows/arches (which I think were also repositoried). They came in the 16 Pooklet Natural colors.
If you still have some of these files, I’d really appreciate if you could upload them somewhere or send them to kangaroop2 (at) yahoo.com
Thank you so much for your help!
I just sent you the Nouk Pirate hair…or at least I hope it’s the right one
Thank you so, so much! I already have the file in my hard drive and I will re-upload it to Mediafire right now.
(Or maybe I should use Box or Dropbox in the mean time…)
Everyone else, I really appreciate your help and reblogs! I was sad because I thought those files were lost forever. I am trying to figure out how to run the Sims 2 again, after all (because it makes no sense that my laptop can’t run the game properly, but the Sims 3 very well).
